The early morning sunlight scattered across the many instruments laid out on benches, illuminating a scene that belonged in a mad scientist’s lab. Cooling fins, plasma chambers, thorium rods and various gadgets and gizmos dotted the stands, surrounded by an anxious crowd of lab coats.

Last week I was fortunate to present at the 5th Early Career Nuclear Strategists Workshop. As one of only two technical experts in the room, it was a welcome challenge to communicate how, why, and when we should implement technical aspects into nuclear strategy.
MPhil students visit EDF and Hinkley Point C
We were very grateful to our hosts at Hinkley Point C for touring us around the UK’s first new nuclear power station to be built in over 20 years. The construction site was immense and the size of the cranes cannot be envisaged unless you visit!
