Wylfa and Trawsfynydd North Wales
As part of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle, Waste Management and Decommissioning module at Bangor University, students visit Wylfa and Trawsfynydd power stations in North Wales.
Having provided the UK with low-carbon electricity since the 1960s, Trawsfynydd is now fully decommissioned and Wylfa is in the process of being decommissioned. Both sites provide our students with an insight into the complexity and scale of the management of nuclear power plants at the end of service and the types of careers that are available in this sector of the nuclear industry.
