US visit to Idaho and Oak Ridge
Between 9-16 September 2024, Cohort 3 from the Nuclear Energy Futures CDT visited Idaho National Laboratory and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, along with Director Mark Wenman and Manager Jon Tate.
Visiting the Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia
As part of the CDT cohort-building activities, we recently travelled to Ljubljana, Slovenia to visit the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI).

Going bananas at Cambridge Science Festival 2024
The early morning sunlight scattered across the many instruments laid out on benches, illuminating a scene that belonged in a mad scientist’s lab. Cooling fins, plasma chambers, thorium rods and various gadgets and gizmos dotted the stands, surrounded by an anxious crowd of lab coats.
MPhil visit to Westinghouse Springfields

Visit to the Idaho and Oak Ridge National Laboratories
Students from Cohort 2 visited Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The purpose of the visit was to learn more about world-leading nuclear-related research programmes, to see the facilities, and experience the working environment in a different country.
MPhil students visit EDF and Hinkley Point C
We were very grateful to our hosts at Hinkley Point C for touring us around the UK’s first new nuclear power station to be built in over 20 years. The construction site was immense and the size of the cranes cannot be envisaged unless you visit!
