Dr Valeria Raffuzzi
Dr Valeria Raffuzzi works as a research associate in the Nuclear Energy group in the Department of Engineering.
Specialisms
Dr Raffuzzi’s research is about developing and improving Monte Carlo neutron transport methods. Her PhD investigated the use of variable fidelity cross section representations to accelerate Monte Carlo simulations while retaining high fidelity. Now, she is researching other aspects of Monte Carlo, such as variance reduction and sensitivity analysis, and other transport methods, such as the random rays method. Additionally, she is interested in nuclear data evaluations and benchmarking.
Dr Raffuzzi is one of the main developers of the Monte Carlo code developed by the Nuclear Energy group in Cambridge, SCONE.
