Characterising conditions of experimental positions in the JHR for the qualification of HTGR fuel and structural materials
As the UK turns to High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGR) to decarbonise energy, there is a pressing need to qualify HTGR fuel and structural materials. The Jules Horowitz Reactor, currently under construction in France, will be a material testing reactor capable of contributing to this essential qualification process. This PhD project aims to model conditions (flux, temperature, etc.) in the JHR core and reflector experimental positions and calculate the associated uncertainties. Moreover, a preliminary test device will be designed and the conditions of this in different positions of the reactor modelled.
